Dafen Pond is a pleasant venue to go fishing, but has a little bit of a past and present regarding Anti-Social behavior.i.e: A young adult drowned in November 2005 whilst having consumed alcohol and drugs. A baby swan discovered shot dead on the 08 April 2014. On a lighter note there has been positives such as the local community who gathered together to clean up the pond in October 2013 and did a splendid job. The pond was originally named Afon Dafen, meaning: Tamed Animal, it dates back to the 15th century. The Pond itself goes back to 1865 when it was built primarily for the Tinplate works that were situated close by and it also substituted as a recreational place for the Tinplate workers and their families to swim, wash, fish and iceskate. I targeted Roach when I visited there earlier this month and caught 27 Roach in 2 hours by constantly feeding my swim with my chosen bait of maggots, very easy to fish here, but all the Roach are very small. On my next outing I will be angling for Tench using the flatbed method feeder loaded with pellets, but I won't get my hopes up that they'll be much over the 3lb mark. There is a rumour that this venue has Pike, I can say right now with hand on heart that this pond has no Pike, because the size of the pond is not anywhere near the size that is required to support 1 Pike let alone a mating pair to sustain propagation of this species. Dafen Pond is a decent place to fish, it just lacks size and you will struggle to hold any interest to embark on a 3rd or 4th outing to this venue unless you are a local to this neck of the woods. Tight Lines.

I forgot to state that Dafen Pond also has a car park for 10 cars and 3 large wheely bins for refuse. The pond has 3 disabled pegs, 2 of them being small and 1 one being quite large. There is a children's park adjacent to the disabled pegs which is slightly run down in appearance, but is functional.

So we want to encourage you to comment, review and add photos so we can all get the best information we can.

Now we have phase one up and running, we will also be dedicated to answering questions on fisheries, and making sure peoples comments and updates are smooth and quick to make sure we have all the latest information on competitions, lakes and contact details for fisheries.

If you are a fishery owner and you’re not listed on here, your details are wrong, or if you would just like to add information about future events, then please do shout. Also, if you’ve got any more ideas of what we can do then please do help.
